Religious Education For Adults

BUDDHIST MEDITATION GROUP Rev. Marcia Curtis leads a weekly Buddhist Meditation Group on Sundays from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. We'll be meeting in the Sanctuary. Everyone is welcome! Each session will include a guided meditation, a dharma talk or practice discussion, and a time for silent meditation.
Marcia began her meditation practice in 1987, and has been teaching Buddhist mindfulness meditation for more then 10 years, in UU congregations, a prison, and a psychiatric hospital. She also teaches the 8-week course in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and is willing to teach the course at BUC if there is sufficient interest. Please come to the weekly Sunday night meditation session if you are interested... or call Marcia at 312-431-0387.

Talking openly about race seems to be more important than ever as tensions rise in our society.  Beloved Conversations, the UU class/workshops on race, returns to BUC this fall. The course consists of a weekend retreat and eight weekly sessions.  The retreat is required, and will be Friday evening, 10/4/19, and all-day Saturday, 10/5/19.  The eight weekly sessions will begin on Thursday, 10/10/19, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and end on Thursday, 12/6/19, skipping the week of Thanksgiving.  It's best if you can attend all the sessions.  To register, please see either Marcia Curtis or Maria Moser.  If you have questions about the course, please contact Marcia Curtis (312-431-0381, document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,97,32,104,114,101,102,61,39,109,97,105,108,116,111,58,109,97,114,99,105,97,99,117,114,116,105,115,54,64,103,109,97,105,108,46,99,111,109,39,62,109,97,114,99,105,97,99,117,114,116,105,115,54,64,103,109,97,105,108,46,99,111,109,60,47,97,62));" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-auth="NotApplicable">).

Kids 5 to 12 years old

Children aged five through twelve, who are fully vaccinated, are invited to attend the first part of the church service to hear "the story for all ages."  They will then leave to attend their UU Education classes, where everyone who is with them is fully vaccinated.
